Tarot Reading

Last night I did a reading for myself using the Raider-Waite deck. It was a Celtic Cross that came out as such:

Tarot Dreams

So last night I decided to sleep with a Tarot card under my pillow. I've read this method in a few different books. The Tarot card that I put under my pillow was 0. The Fool. I haven't had that bad a night in a while. I had strange off the wall dreams and woke up feeling like I had run a marathon. I might try again tonight with another card.

Tarot lessons

I'm excited, I'm starting tarot lessons soon. Tomorrow I'm getting things to study and then the lessons begin. The woman who is going to teach me is organizing a metaphysical fair which is really cool. I wish they had one in the part of GA where I live. I'm so glad I'll finally be able to read Tarot and not just do it haltingly yay!

My Altar

Here is just a quick update with the pictures of my temp altar on the book shelf

  The bast on the left was found by a friend of mine in an alley and I paid her for it. The middle one is one I was going to sell with some of my other Wiccan items. The one on the right is a present from my aunt with different carvings on it. The rocks are ones my boyfriend and I found on the side of our apartment and the scroll is a petition to Bast. The green satchel is a money bag and I made the little jar that has the candle in it in art class my senior year. The book looking thing that two of the Bast statues are on is actually a gift from the same aunt that gave me the wooden Bast. It is actually a hollow storage spot where I have my two Tarot decks and my runes. I just recently bought the incense boat and 10 stick of Dragon's Blood incense, my favorite!!

The Magician

The first major trump card in the Tarot

         I. THE MAGICIAN

    What I see: A man in a robe is standing before an altar. The altar has a cup, a wand, a sword, and a wand on it representing the four suits of the Minor Arcana. The magician has his arm raised with a wand in his right hand. An infinity symbol hovers above his head. His other hand is down with an index finger pointing to the ground. Flowers surround him.

   What it means to me: The magician is telling the person that they might have a vision, an answer to the question being asked. He also is saying as above so below, meaning as in heaven it is so on earth.

  Internet Meaning: At #1, the Magician is the male power of creation, creation by willpower and desire. In that ancient sense, it is the ability to make things just-so by speaking them aloud ("And God said 'Let there be Light!' and there was Light"). Reflecting this is the fact that the Magician is represented by Mercury. He represents the gift of tongues, a smooth talker, a salesman. Also clever with the sleight of hand (Mercury *was* the god of thieves!) and a medicine man - either a real doctor or someone trying to sell you snake oil. The 4 suits laid out before him remind us of the 4 aces, which in the Tarot symbolize the raw, undeveloped, undirected power of each suit. When the Magician appears, he reveals these to you. The reader might well interpret this card as telling the querent that they will be given a vision, an idea, a magical, mental image of whatever it is they most want: the solution to a problem, an ambitious career, a love life, a job.

The Fool

     This is my first post that is Wicca related. It is going to be an overview of the first card in the Major Arcana of the Tarot.

      O. THE FOOL

    What I see: In this picture I see a young man who has his belongings tied to a stick in one hand and a white flower in the other. He seems happy enough but isn't paying any attention to where he is going, which is right off the edge of a cliff. His companion, the white dog, in my opinion seems to be warning him of the danger he could be in if he doesn't look out. It is a bright, sunny day and there are snow covered mountains in the background.

    What it means to me: I think this card is a representation of not being aware. Things are going well and you have become blind to the dangers or downfalls that could still be lurking all around you. The warning signs (the white dog) are there if you just pay attention.

   Internet meaning:  At #0, the Fool is the card of infinite possibilities. The bag on the staff indicates that he has all he needs to do or be anything he wants, he has only to stop and unpack. He is on his way to a brand new beginning. But the card carries a little bark of warning as well. Stop daydreaming and fantasizing and watch your step, lest you fall and end up looking the fool.
