I got the herb book I wanted with my Barnes and Noble gift card XD. I am very excited to start reading it. I am still working with my pendulum and tarot cards. I just have to make a schedule or something to rotate my focus. I know most people do one at a time but my mind wonders easily so I will focus on all three. Tomorrow is New Years Eve and if you pop over to Mrs. B's blog she's got a New Years eve ritual for letting go of negativity. I read over it and it looks pretty neat. I'll be back tomorrow to post my resolutions and maybe hear some of yours.

Herbs
So I also would like to learn about herbs. I really want the book "A green witch's herbal" by Silja. I tend to want to learn about a lot of things at once so I'm having trouble picking just one. I currently am trying to learn, Tarot reading, Rune reading, my Pendulum and now herbs. Such a full plate. I have a divination notebook, which I need to rearrange so I can add a section for Pendulum studies. My Herbal notebook is currently M.I.A. so I have to find it or get another one. I'm using it for Herbs, Stones and Crystals. I really need to just pick one thing and work on it but its so hard lol Below is he amazon link to the book I want.

Ugh
I've been working with my pendulum some more and my hand just shakes so bad I can't tell if it is actually the pendulum or my hand. Instead of asking questions I'm trying to just hold it while keeping my head steady. Hope it gets better.

Pagan Blog Promt
Prompt: Unwinding and Relaxing
After a long week at work, or a stressful time between family members, how do you unwind and relax? Feel free to dream big, but also share what you actually do on a regular basis to clear your head and calm down. This is an older prompt but I feel like my posts are very short and not as frequent as they have been.
I love taking baths to relax. Bubbles or no bubbles as long as the water is hot hot hot! I usually listen to my iPod (which needs to be updated and contains way to much Eminem :p ) and read a book. I have an e-reader on my phone that gets free books so if I don't feel like rereading something I usually have a book on there that I'll read. I also like to light candles in my room and try and meditate or talk to my friends online.

Pendulum
As far as I can tell with my pendulum yes is a counterclockwise circle, no is up and down, and I don't know is a clockwise circle. I am still working on keeping my hand steady. I have a problem with my hand shaking when I hold it up.

December
Welcome to December everyone! I hope your thanksgiving was amazing and you didn't get crushed on Black Friday. I got my pendulum in the mail last week and I'm going to start using it soon. I'll let everyone know how my first attempts with it go!

Prosperity Tea
I tried one of the teas that I have for sale after finally getting a mesh tea ball. It was very good and so far I've made two mugs. We shall see if it actually brings me prosperity...to help it along I've sent in another application and am going up to the store tomorrow to talk to someone.
List of Herbs in the tea:
Black Tea
Pennyroyal
Parsley
Basil
Meadow-sweet
Sage
Clover
Mistletoe
Rosehips
Maybe someone who knows herbs can tell me why mistletoe is included..I thought it was poisonous.

Ritual
I had a question that I posted on witchforum.net "What do you do before you begin a ritual? Is it something different for Esbats, Sabbats, and just regular workings or do you do the same thing every time?"
Here are some answers I've received
Vakanai said: "I haven't done a ritual yet, but I think I'd do the basic steps I do for meditation or just getting my mind silent, focused, and in the right kind of state for doing something important. Get my posture good, back straight, shoulders back, head straight. Clear my head and relax. Breath deep and regular. I usually imagine myself walking down stairs, 21 steps, counting backwards from 21 (I got it from a book, Psi-Kinetic Power; it really does get my mind to a bit of a deeper place than usual). I'm trying to get in the habit of shielding and grounding/centering as well. Pretty basic."
Snowdog said: "I will ground and center then meditate, I'll ask the goddess and god to to be with me as well as my spirit guides and totems for guidance. I then meditate in the void until the circle is cleansed and altar consecrated. We do ritual with our coven so if I am helping our HP to cleanse and consecrate I will meditate a few miutes before we start. The important thing is to forget everything that has happened or is going to happen in the world and focus your energy and mind to the ritual. I think of it as trying to have a conversation with someone with the television on that has a show running that I am interested in, you can't concentrate and give 100% of your attention to that person. Turn the TV off, clear your mind of drama and focus on the important things."
Ken Ra said: "The day of the ritual I schedule for low stress. Meals are easy to eat foods, enough to fill but not stuff me. I will have a shower with baking soda salt and Myrrh. I will check and prep my working space. Then I will tighten my courage and jump into the ritual."

Candle Magick
I've been in need of divine help in my life for a while now. I need to know if I should give up and let go of Wolf, I also want to figure out my life course. So, I took a plain white candle and since I don't have any oil I rubbed it in my hands for a few minutes. Then, I took a toothpick and wrote my name, followed by the Runes Rad, Nyd, Algix, and Eh followed by Wolf's name. I let it burn while I slept and buried it in the yard today. I am hoping that I will start to find a direction I like and move forward with it.

Pagan Blog Promt
Prompt: Your Sacred Space
What is your sacred space like? Is it a permanent set up, or something you only create when you need it? What sorts of things do you need in order to make your space sacred? Is it an outdoor or indoor thing, or whenever and wherever you need it?I got this from the Pagan Blog Prompt blog. Their bloggy button is on my exchange page for those of you who want to check it out.
My sacred space is something I only create when I need it. I make it where ever I happen to need it. In the future I would really like to have a house with a room I can use as my Wiccan room. I might only be able to use half if Wolf needs the other half but that would still be enough. I really dislike having to use my brother's old room in my parents house which is where I am currently staying. My room is now the official guest room and my mother doesn't want my little doggie jumping up on her $500 bedding set. Go figure ;) Anyway I have this great picture of the room that I'll be able to measure out a full circle and maybe trace it in chalk or outline it in stones, I'll have my altar inside of it and my shrine on the outside. I'll have a nice glass china cabinet with all my supplies in it and maybe a bookshelf also. That is my dream place to create sacred space.

Pendulums
I ordered a really nice looking Pendulum off E-bay the other day. This was before I bought my new books and decided to start saving money. Which , by the way is only going to last until the Harry Potter movie. I digress. So, I've been reading up on pendulums, they don't seem to complicated to grasp. There is a short about them in the Llewellyn Magickal Almanac for 2010 which is what first got me interested. So, last night I was looking on www.witchforum.net about pendulums and I was directed to Pendulums - Crystalinks It looks really interesting so far and I might have to put some of the stuff in my divination journal to use for later. My pendulum will be here around Dec.1- Dec. 14th so not for some time. I am still working on Tarot and Runes stones as well. If anyone uses a pendulum I'd be glad for any stories or advice.

I just couldn't Help myself
I was in Barnes and Noble today turning in an application and I had a little money left over from paying the phone bill yesterday... I couldn't help myself. I bought the Llewellyn 2011 Magickal Almanac and the 2011 Planner. X.X I know I should be saving money but its been a while since I really bought myself anything. Saving money from here on out! Plus I need a job pretty badly. *Crosses fingers*
Protection while driving bag
So, Monday I went to visit Wolf which is a three hour drive away. Since Sunday is a good day to do protection Magick I made a little bag to take with me.
You will need:
A small black bag (I had one already but you can make one out of cloth if you wish)
Two whole Cloves
One whole Bay leaf
A Pinch of Rosemary leaves
A pinch of Salt
A piece of Parchment or Paper
A black pen or crayon
Cast your circle and call the quarters. The Goddess I used is Artemis because she is a Huntress and a Protector especially of woman.
On the paper write "Artemis, please protect me on my trip to __________ and back home." The draw the Runes Thorn and Rad right next to each other. Thorn is for protection, Rad for travel. Add the Cloves, Rosemary leaves, Bay leaf, Salt and then your prayer. Close the pouch and visualize your trip being safe. Leave on your Altar over night and put in your purse or in the car before your trip.

An online Rune reading
This is from http://www.facade.com/runes/ I blanked out the name of the town
How will my trip to A****** go?
The Cross spread is used to plot the arc of your life and the forces acting on it. It is the most popular spread, giving a very complete view of the situation. Ice Runes are most commonly used for questions about struggle, conflict, and achievement.
The left rune represents an important element of the past. Isa is the rune symbolizing Ice - cold, stagnant, frozen, and unchanging. This rune suggests heat removed not just from anger or conflict, but from passion as well. Paradoxically, Isa conveys images of slippery slopes and unsure footing, but also of circumstances that have crystallized and become utterly immutable. Remember that in the cold north, ice is not just THE challenge to be overcome, but the very nature of the environment. Be courageous, for you work against this element every day. Will you fight alone or with others against this, our common foe? Is there much worse than lack of change?
The middle rune represents a deciding element of the present. Thurisaz the thorn represents barriers and senseless violence. Here we see the thorn overturned. This could mean that erected barriers will not hold, or that senseless violence can be avoided. Also, remember where thorns are found - perhaps this rune portends that a goal can be obtained easily and without interference. Grasp for the rose...
The top rune represents a force that works for you. Fehu represents cattle the Norse symbol of wealth. This rune has some interesting implications based on the fact that cattle, unlike land, move about of their own accord. Cattle also reproduce, so this rune often speaks of wealth that renews or perpetuates itself. Wealth takes many forms, but this rune generally represents the value that is purely material or monetary in nature. Alternatively, this rune is deeply associated with Frey, and hence can be the harbinger of fertility and children.
The bottom Rune represents a force that works against you. Uruz is the name of the Auroch, an extinct prehistoric ox. This animal was strong and brave, and was the focus of rites of manhood in older days. Reversed, this rune symbolizes either the lack of challenge, or the lack of preparation for a challenge. This rune suggests that you must reach deep within in order to gain the power you will need, whether to get out of your current rut, or to face what appears to be a hopeless situation.
The right rune represents the critical element of the future, at the core of the final outcome. Ehwaz is the rune of the eight-legged horse that the god Odin rode into battle. Horses are symbolic of a number of things. Firstly, horses may symbolize vehicles such as cars, motorcycles, planes, or boats. Secondly, horses may symbolize not wealth, but status. Thirdly, horses may symbolize motion towards an objective. As such, this rune suggests a journey or a quest to achieve a goal or improve one's station in life. On a deeper level, the rune Ehwaz evokes the unique relationship of horse and rider as an inseparable team. To the modern eye this may be the relationship of master and underling, but to the Norse it was a total union. In fact, early representations of Odin are not of a man and a horse, but, of a centaur-like creature - the ultimate symbiosis of Man and Nature. |
Travel
Monday I am driving the three hours to visit Wolf at his dad's house. I am going to get up at 6:00 am to leave so I can be there by 9. My parents said they don't want me driving home at night so if I don't have a place to stay I'll have to be home by 5 which I don't want to do at all. I'm hoping Wolf would know somewhere for me to stay. I am thinking of putting the Chariot Tarot card under my pillow or will write a quick prayer to Bast to protect me and maybe help to find a place to stay the night. Tomorrow night though, I am going to take a shower/ ritual bath. ;)
On the more annoying side of things, my father was making a huge deal out of the whole thing. I'm not a kid anymore. I'm only living with them again till I can find a job...again. I think I'm going to try a employment prayer I found and sleep with the Feoh rune under my pillow for money.
Hopefully things get easier soon. Glad I have my friends to keep me insane and happy!
Blessed Be!

Journal
So I have filled out 23 and a half pages in my journal (see its entry below) with stuff from other books. Once I fill the whole book up, I will go back and pick out the stuff I want to keep and put it in my Book of Shadows, my Divination Journal, and my Herb/Crystal Journal. I have three separate three ring binders that I use. I think I've posted pictures of my BOS.
Some of the stuff I have in my Selene journal would be all 24 runes (I drew them myself...badly) their basic meanings and which gods they are associated with. A few recipes for drinks and food. A list of most of the Gods and Goddess in the Greek Pantheon. Nine important stones for witches to know and a section on pendulums. Also, different protection basics like stones, trees, herbs etc followed by a drinking water for the heart potion. A few pages on I have psychic exercises to do with Tarot cards, a money related prayer and bind rune, and lastly a section on glamoury. I'm going back through most of my books looking for stuff.
I would one day like to have
or
from http://www.brahmsbookworks.com/
the thing is they are like $400 a pop soooo yea. That might not happen for a long time. But if anyone wants to get me a consolation prize the almanac would be great.

My new notebook
Just wanted to share pictures of the Notebook I got at Barnes and Nobles yesterday. I thought it was just a random notebook with what I decided was a goddess on it. I got home and it had a sticker on the back that told me it is a painting of the goddess Selene guiding the moon by Josephine Wall.

Last Halloween Recap
I didn't have this blog a year ago so I decided to write a little about what I did last year.
I was living in an apartment with Wolf and our neighbor asked if she could take pictures of my ritual for her class. I allowed her an she set her camera up while I set my ritual space up in the dining room. I used my four candles to outline the circle and set up my altar with a cup of wine, bread, my candles etc. After casting the circle I made a little speech about honoring our ancestors and I wrote a petition to keep myself and family safe for the new year. It was rather short on my part mostly because I'd become a bit embarrassed and started to repeat myself. So after a short meditation I drank some wine and had a bit of bread. I closed the circle, released the elements and left the wine and bread outside. I also put a candle in the window to guide any wondering spirits.
This year I am going to be babysitting in a hotel room and I have no idea if I'll have the time to do a ritual since I won't be home until well after midnight. I might do something at three am Halloween morning. If I do I think it will be in the areas of love. I'm going through a rough patch in my relationship (read we're broken up) but I feel things will get better. I feel in my heart that Wolf and I are meant to be together and I want to do anything I can to make it work. Well...mostly anything.

Samhain
Here's a little bit of information on Samhain (pronounced Sow-in or Sahm-hayn) Anything in (Italics) is my commentary.
For the Celtic people Samhain marks the end of summer and the beginning of the winter months, the day after Samhain being the Celtic New Year. In many European traditions, this is the night when the old God dies and is mourned by the Crone for the next six weeks.
Samhain is more popularly known as Halloween, a contraction of the words, "Hallowed Evening." and it retains much of the original form and meaning it had long ago in Celtic lands. The Church, trying to turn this day into a day of prayer, named it Michaelmas, the feast day of St Michael. Eventually, it was renamed the Eve of All Saints or All Hallows Eve and precedes All Saint's Day.
The preceding three paragraphs are paraphrased from the book Sabbats: A witch's approach to living the old ways. By Edain McCoy. I have provided an image and a link below if you wish to order the book through Amazon.com.
Hopefully I will have more posts concerning my favorite of all holidays over the coming weeks. I am planning on putting up a section on my traditions within the next few days!
Blessed Be!
Layla
- It is the third and final harvest feast.
- It is a day to remember and commune with those who have passed on.
- It is a celebration of the cycle of reincarnation.
- Considered the day when the "veil between the worlds" is thinnest.

Ech
I am very sorry. I know there aren't a lot of people following this blog but real life has become a mess. I've had to move in with my mom while Wolf moved in with his father three hours away. I need to find another job to pay bills and save up money to move. Stress lots of stress!!! I haven't even unpacked yet and its been a week. Hopefully I'll update soon!

Trust
I've been having trust and jealousy issues recently. I decided to do a simple spell. I wrote Jealousy in green crayon on a piece of parchment, crossed it out and wrote trust in capitol letters underneath in blue. I've been sleeping with it under my pillow but it hasn't seemed to work. So, the night before last I lit a small candle with my Wolf's name on it and trust on the other side and burned it. I am going to put both in a sachet and keep it with me to see how that works.

Tarot Reading
Last night I did a reading for myself using the Raider-Waite deck. It was a Celtic Cross that came out as such:
I did a Celtic cross spread
Significator: Queen of Wands
Cover: 9 of wands
Crosses: 10 of cups
Above: 6 of swords
Below: Strength
Behind: 7 of wands
Before: 5 of wands
Self: 4 of swords
Home: Queen of Pentacles
Hope/Fear: The World
Outcome: 10 of swords
I'm still working on the meaning so if you have an interpretation let me know!

Visits
The Wolf (what I call my bf online sometimes) and I went do to Florida to see him mom on Thursday and got back Sunday. She has breast cancer and hasn't been doing well. Her last round of Chemo is this week so I hope she does well. It rained almost the entire time we were down there so no beach, no waterpark, no outside pretty much. But his mom got me a very pretty anklet from Brighton and a dress as belated birthday presents. I wore both last night to dinner with my parents. We got them a box of truffles from the Godiva store =] Anyway I hope to be updating again soon!

Tarot Dreams
So last night I decided to sleep with a Tarot card under my pillow. I've read this method in a few different books. The Tarot card that I put under my pillow was 0. The Fool. I haven't had that bad a night in a while. I had strange off the wall dreams and woke up feeling like I had run a marathon. I might try again tonight with another card.

Using household items as magickal tools
The automatic drip coffee maker
With the coffee make you can brew infusions, potions, and washes. Here are a few tips for use
The Blender
Can be used for pretty much every grinding, powdering and mixing job in place of an mortar and pestle.
Slow Cookers
Making your own oils in the slow cooker is easier than you might think. Use one part herbal mixture to one part vegetable oil and stir well. Check the oil every six to eight hours for scent. If you don't think the scent is strong enough, strain the oil and add another helping of herbs. Let cool, strain and bottle.
Because this can take several hours, you might want to add a chant of intent to charge your oil.
With the coffee make you can brew infusions, potions, and washes. Here are a few tips for use
- Don't use the same coffee make to brew indigestible teas, or potions and anything poisonous. If you plan to brew any type of wash with ingredients not suitable for human consumption get another coffee maker.
- Between brewings, clean the pot and filter cup with hot soapy water.
The Blender
Can be used for pretty much every grinding, powdering and mixing job in place of an mortar and pestle.
- If you are using dry ingredients, add only two or three tablespoons at a time to keep the motor from overheating.
- Always clean the blender after mixing. A tablespoon of rubbing alcohol and a cup of water, then let the blender run for a few seconds. Empty the cup and wipe it with a cloth or paper towel. Cleaning this way removes any herbal oils, vibrations and odors.
- When powdering gums like dragon's blood and gum arabic, add a few drops of rubbing alcohol before you turn the blender on. It keeps the powder from gumming up the blades. The alcohol evaporates and leaves no vibrations.
- As the blender grinds and powders focus on your intent.

- Consecrate your slow cooker as a magickal tool and use for magickal purposes only.
- Use the lowest setting.
- Use a light, unscented vegetable or fruit oil. Grapeseed oil or jojoba oil are good for making oils of quantity as they don't turn rancid.
- When working with fresh herbs, bruise them to release their oils. An easy way to do this is put the herbs in a plastic bag and pound them with the side of your palm.
- Keep the lid on the pot unless you're checking for aroma. Wipe the moisture from the inside of the lid before you put it back on the pot.

Book review
The Witch's Magical Handbook by Gavin and Yvonne Frost. This book was not my style at all. I couldn't really get through it. They have little sub-stories about different people and their magickal experiences and after the first couple of chapters I just started skipping things to read these parts. The continually referred to "The Force" and I was just waiting for Luke Skywalker to pop out of the pages and recruit me to become a Jedi. The many diagrams and charts didn't do anything for me either and I just got tired of their whole spiel. Even the sub-stories became tiresome with everyone somehow contacting the authors for their help and of course they saved the day, although Gavin is mentioned much than Yvonne and from some passages I am assuming that the authors are brother and sister and not married as I had originally thought.
All in all I was a bit disappointed compared to the things I had heard and read about the authors.

Wheel of the Year
Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter - birth, growth, fading, death - the Wheel turns, on and on. For everyone that celebrates these cycles of our lives, the Calling of the Directions begins each ritual as we move around the Wheel of the Year. These beautiful words are spoken to invoke the energy and sacred element each direction represents.http://www.mindspring.com/~stardancer/
Good Evening
Well I hope everyone's Lammas/Lughnasadh went well. I was rather busy so all I did was meditate before bed. I slept pretty well, I woke up every so often feeling heavy but relaxed. I woke up this morning feeling more well rested than I have in weeks.

Ten reasons Witches don't worship Satan
10. | Scorch marks on the furniture whenever Satan manifests. |
9. | Not even Lysol can mask the smell of brimstone. |
8. | Hard to keep flaming goat's skulls lit. |
7. | Decreased availability of blonde virgins. |
6. | Blood stains from the sacrifices are impossible to get out of the carpet. |
5. | Wailing of the damned souls in hell keeps the neighbors awake. |
4. | The cats keep attacking Satan's tail, which annoys him. |
3. | Repeated stooping motions for administering the Kiss of Shame is difficult on the older coven members. |
2. | Demons smell even worse than brimstone |
And The #1 Reason Why Witches Don't Worship Satan ...
1. | It's impossible to worship something that doesn't exist!! |
